Ludwick Victim Of Sad Tragedy At Her Home, Saturday. Clothing Catches Fire When Wood Stove Explodes. Unfortunate Woman Was Pioneer Of Lyons Township – Funeral Held Wednesday. One of the saddest tragedies to visit Muir in years occurred Saturday morning when Mrs. James B. Ludwick sustained burns which caused her death Sunday evening. Just how it happened is unknown but it is thought her clothing was set on fire from the explosion of a wood stove. She had not been feeling well and her daughter, Mrs. Homer Fletcher, had spent the previous night with her. In the morning at Mrs. Ludwick was in the room alone, she was heard screaming and calling for help. Mr. Ludwick and Mrs. Fletcher rushed into the room to find her clothing in flames. They put out the fire and removed her clothing as quickly as possible, but not until very serious burns had been sustained, from which she died Sunday evening. Besides the husband, Mrs. Ludwick is survived by a son, Rev. Claude Ludwick, of Ohio, and a daughter, Mrs. Homer Fletcher. Funeral services were held Wednesday from Church of Christ and burial made in West Plains cemetery.
