Mrs. Nelson Lumbert died at her home on Ionia Street Saturday night after a f 
our weeks illness resulting from the birth of a boy, since which time she had 
been very ill, although not considered of a serious nature until too late for 
medical aid.  

The funeral was held from the M.E. church at Sunfield Tuesday afternoon, 
conducted by the M.E. minister of that village, and the unfortunate young 
lady’s remains laid at rest in the Sunfield cemetery.  She was the daughter of 
H. Putnam, a farmer living south of Sunfield, and was married to young Lumbert 
less than six months ago, she being but a little over 16 years of age when 
married.  The young couple had not been residents of the village very long, 
hence but few had made their acquaintance.  Lumbert was employed by Mr. Mackey 
at the ice house.
