Wave, Thurs, Dec. 19, 1946 CHILD DIES FROM BURNS Thelma Lumbert, 5-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Lumbert near Hastings, died at the Pennock hospital in Hastings, Wednesday, Dec. 11 from burns received when she poured kerosene on a fire she was starting in the kitchen stove. The child's father, working nearby, succeeded in smothering the flames burning the girl's clothing, then rushed her to Pennock hospital, where she died shortly afterward. Fire starting in the rear of the hoe was extinguished by the rural fire department after causing minor damage. Besides the parents, she is survived by two brothers and two sisters, a grandfather, Ben Lambert in Lake Odessa, and a grandmother, Mrs. Cora Whaley at Winchester, Tenn. Funeral services were held at the Leonard Funeral home in Hastings and burial was in the Fuller cemetery.
