She was so active so alert and so independent for a lady of ninety years. She has lived in her log house home for many years and many pictures have been taken of the little home and several articles written with her as the subject. Until last year she had never had the pleasure of the automobile and many other new things she cared little for. She loved her home and enjoyed visitors and in turn was entertaining to callers. She loved to dwell in the past and gave many interesting accounts of the olden days. --------------- OBITUARY -------- Sylvia Elenor Lumbert was born in Onondago County, New York, Nov. 25, 1831 and died Oct. 1, 1924 at the age of 92 years, 10 months and 5 days. She moved with her parents to Ohio in 1832. She was united in marriage to Alpheus Lemon, Oct. 13, 1851 and came to Michigan in the early days of 1854. To this union were born two children Agustus Lemon of Evart, MIch., and Theodore of Langston, Mich., Alpheus Lemmon died Jan., 3, 1860 and she was again married to Geo. Lumbert who died June 18, 1912 and to this union were born five children, Geo. who passed away six years ago, Sarah who died in infancy, Mrs. Mary Harrington who ives in Flint, Mich., Rhoda Bell who only lived to the age of 11 years and Fred who resides on the old homestead in Odessa. Besides these children she leaves to mourn their loss one half brother of Evart and two half sisters of Seatle, Wash. and Northville Mich. also 37 grandchildren 49 great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. Her life of nearly a century was lived during the most wonderful period of Americaan history. Sixty-seven years spent in the homestead log cabin in Odessa in which she resided until the time of her death. In the early days she was called upon for miles around to attend beds of sickness. She was always ready and willing to help in time of trouble and was a kind neighbor and friend to everyone. The funeral was held at the Calvary U. B. church Saturday. Rev. Dawson preaching and Mrs. Dawson and Mrs. Carter sang. burial was at Lakeside cemetery.
