Lumbert George A. Lumbert was born June 26, 1834, near Sodus Bay, New York and lived there until 1851 when he came to Michigan. Mr.Lumbert was one of the early settlers of Michigan and especially of Odessa township and has been much of pioneer life. In 1860 was married to Mrs.Silvia Lemon and came to reside on the old homestead which has since been his home. He leaves to mourn their loss is his aged widow, two sons George A of Houghton Lake, Michigan and Fred of Lake Odessa and one daughter Mary Harrington of Hartwick, Michigan. Two daughters Sarah and Bell died in early childhood. He died June 29, 1912 aged seventy seven years, eleven months and twenty four days. The funeral services were held at their home in the orchard, attend by a large concourse of people. The services were conducted by I.J. Mourer assisted by Elder John Knapp. Burial was in Lakeside cemetery.
