Born July 2, 1937 in Orbigny, Indreet-Loire, France daughter of Andre & Andree (Genileau) Mercier. Preceded in death by both of her parents and one brother, Bernard Mercier. Also by her longtime companion, husband, Pierre Blanquet. Michelle lived most of her life in Mulliken.Her neighbors became her family in Mich. She had a passion for mowing & maintained her yard with beautiful flowers. She worked as a waitress at Big D Restaurant in Portland & at the canning factory in Lake Odessa & finally at General Motors in Lansing. She was a amazing mix of personality, emotions & an infectious sense of humor. Michelle loved music & dancing, and during her 16 years wheel-chair bound stay at SKLD, she always had her radio playing & at times her "girls" would come in & have little dance parties for her. Was excited to have visits from her grand- children.The caretakers became her 2nd family, referring to them as "My Holly" or "My Robin". Survived by her three daughters, Valerie "Barbara" (Joe Pline) Hodges, Natalie (Scott) Spitzley, Caroline (Rick) Van Houten; grandchildren Corey Hodges, Shane Hodges, Victoria (Zach) Smith, Jill (Tim) Fischer, Zach Spitzley, Bailey Van- Houten, Rachel Van Houten; and great-grandsons, Abel Smith & Tripp Fischer; sister-in-law, Rolande Mercier of Orleans, France; & several nieces & nephews both in France & locally. Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday November 2, at 12 p.m., celebrated by Fr.Mike Alber at St.Patrick's Catholic Church, Portland. Rite of Committal will follow at Danby Cemetery.
