He had been a resident of Otisco more than seventy years and “Uncle Stib” as he was familiarly called was a good citizen and neighbor. He moved into the city from his farm a few years ago. Besides his wife and daughter, Mrs. Emma Case, he leaves two brothers, John B. and Frank Luscombe and one sister, Margaret, who resides in the west. The funeral will be held at the late home Thursday afternoon at 2 o’clock with interment in the Otisco cemetery. Belding Banner, 26 Jan 1916 [Transcriber's Note: This is from an earlier article which gives more information about Stillman Luscombe.] Stillman Luscombe is one of the oldest settlers in Otisco township. He passed his eighty-second birthday last week Tuesday, January 18, and says he is feeling first-rate and could do quite a lot of work yet, if his right hand was all right. Mr. Luscombe came here with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Horace Luscombe, more than 70 years ago, when there were only eight other families in the township. The Luscombes stopped with Tiberius Belding until a shanty could be built. The company with which he came forded the river where Broas bridge now is. Mr. Luscombe says he experienced some pretty hard times in the early days. He moved from his farm last April, after the fire which destroyed his house, and bought him a home in the city. Mr. Luscombe has two sisters and two brothers living – Mary Bevins of Otisco, aged 76; Margaret Ferris of California, 74; Frank Luscombe of Otisco, 63; and J.B. Luscombe of Eureka, 66.
