Olin, it will be remembered, died in a hospital in France from shrapnel wounds while in service at the front lines. The body arrived here last Thursday and was placed in the Weed undertaking rooms and a guard of soldiers was stationed at the building as is the custom of protection of all returned soldiers’ bodies. The commander of the Legion here read the burial rites and Chaplain Tingley read the prayer. Rev. Nagler read the scripture. Dr. Fox of Kalamazoo an intimate friend of Olin’s gave the address which consisted mostly of incidents in the life of Olin as he knew them. He took for his text, “He was at the Front.” He spoke particularly of the young man as being at the front whereby his character he would be expected to be found, weather dangerous or not. The music was furnished by Mr. and Mrs. S.W. Dann, Mr. and Mrs. R.W. Goodemoot and Mrs. Thos. Johnson. At Lakeside the funeral train entered while the Boy Scouts played a dirge. The burial service was read by Chaplain Tingley. Dr. Fox made a prayer. The firing squad fired a salute then the final bugle call was sounded. The flag was lifted and delivered to the father and mother and the body left in its last resting place.
