Luther, 81, of 327 Pearl, died Saturday morning at Blodgett Memorial hospital in Grand Rapids where he had been a patient the past three weeks. Born at Entrican, Montcalm county, April 5, 1892, he was the son of Jay and Mary Comden Luther and attended rural schools in Montcalm county. He worked in a meat market in Entrican before barbering at Six Lakes. He entered the service in World War I July 1918, and served in France. He was discharged from the service in July of 1919 and returned to Six Lakes before going to California for ten years. He returned to Michigan in 1932 settling in Greenville where he worked at the Sanitary Barber shop until moving to Ionia to open his own barbershop in 1946. In 1957 he sold his barber business and worked part time cutting hair in Hubbardston until 1969. In 1932 he was married to Vida Porter at Entrican and she survives. He was a member of First United Methodist church and Ionia Veterans of World War I barracks. Surviving besides the wife, Vida of Ionia, are a son, Thomas of Lansing; two grandchildren; brother, Rupert of Placerville, California; sister, Mrs. Lucille Dunn of Sacramento, Calif. Funeral services will be Tuesday at 3 p.m. at Leddick funeral home. Rev. Charles Fullmer of First United Methodist church will officiate and interment will be at Entrican cemetery.
