Nov. 21, 1929 PIONEER RESIDENT OF COUNTY DIES SUDDENLY TUESDAY Mrs. Mary Lyle’s Passing Unexpected In Spite Of Poor Health Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Lyle, 85, who died at the home of her son, Harry, 721 Hackett St., Tuesday afternoon, will be held from her late residence Friday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock. Interment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. Mrs. Lyle had been in poor health for several months and this in connection with old age is thought to have caused her death which came rather unexpectedly. Mrs. Lyle was a native of Livingston County, N.Y. and was reared in that vicinity. Her residence has been in Ionia County over 60 years making her one of the pioneers of this section. After her arrival from New York, she lived on the farm which is now the location of the John Inman home. Although quiet and retiring, she was known to possess beautiful Christian personality and through this characteristic will long be remembered here. She suffered the heartaches of losing five children, one in infancy; two, Arthur and Myrtle, in their twenties, who died within four months of each other; James Lyle and Mrs. Anna Monks, who died a few years ago, also within four months of each other. Surviving her are the one son, eight grandchildren and eight great- grandchildren.
