Lyons, 89 40-year veteran school teacher Clarissa C. Lyon, 89, formerly of Mulliken, died Friday morning, Sept. 23 at the M.J. Clark Memorial Home in Grand Rapids following a long illness. Miss Lyon was born Aug. 12, 1894 in Bassett, Neb., a daughter of Thomas C. and Mary E. (Brooks) Lyon. She was a retired school teacher, having taught in the Detroit area for 35 years and the local area for five years. Miss Lyon was a member of the Mulliken United Methodist Church, Mulliken United Methodist Women, the Danby Literary Club, Danby Cemetery Society, Mulliken Senior Citizens and the Ladies Benevolent Society. Surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Pearl Reed of Lansing and Mrs. Mildred Hart of Grand Ledge; and several nieces and nephews. Services were held Monday afternoon, Sept. 26 at the Barker-Leik Funeral Home with the Rev. Kenneth A.O. Lindland officiating. Interment was made at Danby Cemetery. Pallbearers were Lloyd Bacon, David Cotton, James Hart, William Hart, Harold McDaniels and Donald Root.
