Jefferson Street, at eight o’clock Sunday evening, January 5. Mr. Lyon was born at Palo, August 25, 1859. His marriage to Mary Helen Hill took place in Ionia on December 22, 1884. Four children were born to them, Earl Richard, Hazel Emeline, Ernest Ray and Onie E. The first two preceded the father in death. Surviving are the widow; a daughter and a son Mrs. E. Petit, Ionia and Ernest of Fenwick; a grandson, William Lyon, Ionia; one sister, Mrs. Onie Wheaton of Orleans and several nieces and nephews. Mr. and Mrs. Lyon spent most of their married life on a farm in Mecosta County, north of Remus. Mr. Lyon was a kind and loving father and devoted to the care of his wife, an invalid for more than 20 years. They had resided in the Petit home only a few weeks. Funeral service was held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 8 from the home of Mr. and Mrs. Petit and at 1:00 p.m. from the New Free Methodist church at Remus. Burial at Wodard Lake Cemetery. Mr. Lyon was a member of the Remus Free Methodist Church for many years and supervised the construction of the new church in 1939.
