County News, Thurs., Aug. 11, 1960
Ernest Lyon, 72 years of age, of Remus, passed away Monday, August 1, at his 
home in Remus, in Mecosta County. He was born in Orleans township, on the farm 
now owned by Forrest Sage of Johnson Road, in February 26, 1887, the son of Mr. 
and Mrs. Fred Lyon. He was married to Lena Wincaren in 1917. In 1921 he was 
married to Anna Cowles. He was married to Mabel Dickerson in 1931 who survives. 
Other survivors are one son, William of near Cadillac, and four grandchildren.

Mr. Lyon was the organizer of the Farmers Union for several years and organized 
the Local Orleans Farmers Union, also was the head of the Farmers Union 
Insurance, until ill health forced him to give it up.

The funeral was held on Wednesday, August 3, at the Sheridan Township Free 
Methodist Church, north of Remus and 1:00 p.m. Interment was a Woodard Lake 
Cemetery. The pallbearers were L.A. Hansen, Milford Denslow, Nile Perry, Robert 
Hansen, Lawrence Warner and William Nicholson.
