Lyons, age 93, of Ionia passed away on Monday, Dec. 14, 2015. She was born on June 21, 1922, in Ionia to Herbert A. and Mary B. (Lesky) Ross. A 1940 graduate of Ionia High School, she attended Lansing Secretarial School. She was employed as a bookkeeper at the Ionia Sentinel-Standard until her marriage to Walter Lyons on May 11, 1946, at SS. Peter and Paul Church. He preceded her death on Sept. 1, 1991. Alice was member of SS. Peter and Paul Church, member of the St. Cecilia Rosary Circle; member of the local Cancer Society Board, member of the Ionia Business and Professional Woman’s Club and a volunteer at the Sparrow-Ionia Hospital gift shop. She was employed at the Ionia Co. Health Dept. for several years and secretary to the manager of the Ionia Free Fair. Alice was a foster grand-mother volunteer at Welch High School and the Crayon Box Day Care in the toddler section. Alice was also preceded in death by daughter, Lisa (Lyons) Miller; son-in-law, Don Rowe; grandson Joseph Rowe of Kentucky; and step-grandson Adam Miller of Ionia. Surviving are sons Walter, Jr. (Reggie) Lyons of Arizona, Gregory (Kris) Lyons and Brian Lyons, both of Ionia; daughters, Mary Alice Homkes of Ionia, Linda Rowe of Kentucky, Patricia (David) Clark of Ionia and Margaret (Randy) Cook of Stanton; son-in-law, Bruce Miller of Ionia; grandchildren Aaron (Jen) Clark, Neil (Tomi Jo) Clark, Matt (Gwen) Clark, Nick (Kim) Clark, Amy (Dan) Hayes, Brett Homkes, Chelsea (Jordan) Schmidt, Alicia Miller, Alex Miller and step grandson Josh (Tiffany) Miller; several great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. The Mass of Christian Burial will be Con-Celebrated by Rev. Thomas Boufford and Rev. Michael Danner at 11 a.m., Friday, Dec. 18, 2015, at SS. Peter and Paul Church. Rite of Committal will follow at Balcom Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m., Wednesday and 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., Thursday at the Lehman Funeral Home, 220 Rich St., Ionia.
