Lyson, age 84, of Lake Odessa went to be with God and his family on November 20, 2008. John grew up in Fowlerville. After high school he moved to Detroit and learned the machine tool trade. A Navy veteran of WWII, John worked as a diesel mechanic aboard various ships. After the war, he returned to Detroit, married and started a family. John had various occupations during his life; from gas station owner to car dealership mechanic, to supervisor at Cadillac Motor Car Co., and finally for Allied Delivery System as the Fleet Manager until his retirement in 1980. John always had a “Can Do” attitude. In life, he shared his ideas and knowledge with all who wanted to learn. He built two homes, make his own water well driller, which he drilled several of, and did anything from electricity, plumbing to concrete work. You name it, and he really did it! John and his wife loved to travel in their motor home and see the states. He loved hunting and fishing, and did a lot of that on Jordan Lake since the early 1970’s. But most of all, John loved his three daughters, all of his family members, and his friends. John is survived by Judy, his wife of 26 years; daughters, Beverly (Stephen) Coulter, Jeanette (David) Westermann, and Alice (Scott) Thornburg; seven grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; his sisters, Charlotte Clore and Jennie Moser; and several nieces and nephews. John was preceded in death by his parents, John and Sophia (Plonka) Lyson; and sisters, Mary Marshick, Sue Measle, and Emily Nemitz. John will be missed by all who knew him and loved him. Services were held on Sunday, November 23, 2008 at the Koops Funeral Chapel in Lake Odessa. The family suggests that memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association.
