MacComber, 144 E. Lincoln Avenue, died Monday evening, January 7, after a long illness. Funeral service will be at two o’clock Thursday afternoon, January 10, from Stone Funeral Home. Rev. Wayne Davis of the Church of Christ will officiate and burial will be in the Highland Park Mausoleum. Mr. MacComber was born April 19, 1858, at Breedville, Kalamazoo County, Michigan. He was one of a pair of twins and the twin sister died ten years ago. His boyhood days were spent on the home farm and as a young man he was foreman of the Coach department of the P.M.R.R. at Muskegon. Later he moved to Jacksonville, Ill. to accept a position with the C. P. & St. Louis RR. Leaving that position, he was instructor in painting at the state school for the deaf at Jacksonville until moving to Ionia in 1905. He was employed here in the P. M. RR. shops until the shops were moved to Saginaw in the 1930’s. Since that time he has been retired. He is survived by a daughter, Mrs. C. Benjamin. Mr. MacComber had been a member of the Church of Christ since 1906 was also a member of the Berean class of the church; past worshipful master of the Harmony Lodge, F. & A. M. of Jacksonville, Ill.; and at the time of his death was a member of Ionia Lodge F & A. M. No. 36, Ionia Chapter, R. A. M. No. 14, and in June 1945 became a life member of Ionia Commandery Knights Temple No. 11.
