Nov. 20, 1936 The death of Edward Macholl, 93, occurred at the home of his daughter-in-law, Mrs. Pauline Macholl-Schafer of Fowler, Thursday evening at 7:30 o’clock. For the past twelve years he has lived with Mrs. Schafer who lived in Ionia until a year ago and then moved to Fowler. He died of senility. Last year he underwent an operation on his foot for gangrene and it was completely healed. Mr. Macholl came to this country from Germany when he was 25 years old. He first worked on the railroad and until the time of his death, he and Martin Schabel were the only men living who had helped grade the Pere Marquette tracks from Ionia north to Belding. He worked at the brewery as a brew master until it closed. He was a member of the Arbeiter Band. He is survived by a daughter, Miss Elizabeth Macholl of Grand Rapids; one granddaughter, Mrs. Clarence Dolphin of Ionia; and a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Schafer of Fowler. His wife died eleven years ago. Funeral services will be held from the Fay Hall funeral chapel, Sunday afternoon, November 22 at 2:30 o’clock with Rev. Paul Stewart officiating. Interment will be at the Highland Park Cemetery.
