Born to Orlo and Nettie Smith on December 3, 1940 in Woodland,MI, Judy was the youngest of seven children. After graduating from Woodland High School, she went on to attend Michigan State University, where she graduated in 1962 with a degree in elementary education.On February 17, 1962, she married the love of her life and high school sweetheart,Douglas MacKenzie. Together they created a life, a family, and a vibrant farm in Woodland. Judy was the most loving and attentive mother to Douglas (Karen) MacKenzie, Michael MacKenzie (dec),Jeffrey (Lynn) MacKenzie, Yvonne(Daniel)Lynn, and Gregory (Wendy)MacKenzie. Judy was also an exceptional Grammy to Lexie, Brianna (Dave), Jeremy (Amanda), Carolyn (Sarah), Torie, Taylor, Zac,Michael, Caitlin,Jackson, Jame, Charlie, and Maggie and Great-Grammy,to Mackenzie (Macy)and Scottie. Her grandkids meant everything to her, and she took an active role in anything and everything they loved. She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Michael, and her siblings, Betty,Lynette,Jacqueline,Jim and Jack. She is survived by her oldest brother, John, and countless nieces and nephews. Judy found joy in her daily farm life, including raising animals, tending her garden, canning, and teaching younger generations. During harvest, she could be found in the tractor with a grandchild by her side.She also loved to sew and passed on the skill to grandkids and 4H students. Judy served her community in a variety of ways. She was president of the library board for a number of years, inspired by her love of reading.Doug and Judy were also honored for their lifelong contributions to the community of Woodland serving as Grand Marshals of the Labor Day parade in 2023. In lieu of flowers, Judy requested donations to her favorite charity, St.Jude Children's research Hospital.
