David Earl Mackey, age 81, of Saranac, passed away Jan. 26, 2009 in Grand 
Rapids.  He was born Feb. 24, 1927 in Grand Rapids the son of Patrick and 
Beatrice (Brock) Mackey.  David married Jean Houserman in Saranac in 1953.  He 
served as a marine during WWII.  He worked for Associated Trucking Co. for 
over 34 years and was a member of Saranac American Legion for over 50 years 
and a boy scout master for 20 years.

David is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Jean Mackey of Saranac; son, 
Scott (Cristi) Mackey of Saranac; halfsister Patty (Frank) Bartlett of Grand 
Rapids and granddaughter Sabrina Mackey of Saranac.  He was preceded in death 
by his parents.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday 11 a.m. at Saranac Community Church 
with Rev. John Madvig officiating.  The family will receive friends and 
relatives Tuesday 2-4 and 7-8:30 p.m. at Lake Funeral Home in Saranac.  Anyone 
wishing may make a memorial contribution in David’s name to Boy Scouts of 
America or Saranac Fire Department.
