She was born September 12, 1913 in Marlette and was the daughter of Frank and Elizabeth Doherty. The family moved from Marlette to Birmingham where Mrs. MacKinnon attended and graduated from high school. April 23, 1932 she married Cecil Mackinnon in Birmingham where they made their home until 1948. They then moved to Ionia until the early fifties when they went to Cedar Springs. In 1961 they returned to Ionia where they have made their home since. Mrs. MacKinnon was employed at McNamara’s until October 11 when she was admitted to the hospital. Formerly she was employed at Laura’s Grill She was a member of the Methodist church of Cedar Springs, the South Ionia Women’s club and the Antlerettes. Surviving are her husband, Cecil, a son, William of Ionia, two daughters, Mrs. Carol Shier, Ionia and Mrs. Marjorie Cobell, Cedar Springs; two brothers, Dave Doherty of Ionia and Earl Doherty of Des Moines, Iowa, and 15 grandchildren. A son James preceded her in death in 1963. Funeral services will be at Boynton’s funeral home at 2 o’clock Monday. Rev. Robert McComb will officiate with burial in Balcom cemetery. A memorial fund is being established.
