MacLaren, 85, of Belding, died Wednesday, Aug. 6, 2008, at Metron of Belding Nursing Home. Jeff was born Jan. 25, 1923, in Hesperia, the son of Delbert and Myrtle Stitt MacLaren. Jeff had been a member of Belding Free Methodist Church since 1952. Jeff served in World War II for three years in Japan and surrounding islands in the Pacific. He enjoyed traveling, hiking and gardening. Jeff was married June 20, 1953, in Grand Rapids, to Lorraine Bullock, and she survives along with their children, Joyce and Tom Weeden of Wayland, Roger and Stacy MacLaren of Tucson, Ariz., Ron and Denise MacLaren of Belding, Phyllis and Bill Blakeslee of Muskegon; 15 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Bryce and Donna MacLaren of Carson City, Inez and Elvin McCastle of Holton, Dan and Marcia MacLaren of Twin Lakes, Hazel Johnson of Oklahoma; sisters-in-law, Chrystal MacLaren of Holton, Pat MacLaren of Elkart, Ind., and many nieces, nephews and other relatives. Jeff was preceded in death by two brothers, Dorville and Doug MacLaren; and one sister, Blanche Lindsey. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Belding Free Methodist Church with his brother-in-law, Pastor Wayne Bullock, officiating. Interment will follow in Smyrna Cemetery. Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Johnson-Feuerstein Funeral Home, Belding. Memorial contributions may be given to Free Methodist Manton Church Camp.
