MEGHAN MacPHERSON BETZ, 37
Meghan MacPherson Betz, 37, passed away unexpectedly on September 19th. Born March 
17th , 1981 in Lansing, Michigan to Gary and Nancy (MacPherson) Betz., Meghan was a
near lifelong resident of Ionia. She graduated from Ionia High School in 1999 and
worked for the last several years for Independent Bank Corporation as a loan review
specialist. An avid sports fan, Meghan rooted for the Red Wings and Tigers as well as the
University of Michigan. She enjoyed doting on her cats Stardust, Deano, Vega, Keegan and newly 
adopted Gibby.

Meghan was preceded in death by her grandparents Monroe and Phyllis MacPherson and 
Elvin and Phyllis Betz, all of Ionia. She is survived by her companion of 17 years
Josh Vallad, her parents and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

A memorial service will be held at the Lake Funeral Home in Ionia on September 27th
at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Joe Fremer officiating. interment Balcom Cemetery. Visitation
will be Wednesday fro 4-7 p.m. at the Funeral home. Those wishing may make memorial 
contributions to Safe Haven Humane Society.
