When 24 years old, he was married to Miss Rhoda Nichols. To this union were born five children, all of whom are now living and are as follows: Mrs. Mary Jersey, of Webb City, Mo.; Ida Jersey, of Belding; George, of Boyne City; Charles, of Belding, and Myrta Aldrich, of North Yakima, Wash. His wife died in August, 1896, since which time he has made his home with his son Charles. About two years after his marriage, he came to Michigan with his family, settling first in Fairplains township, Montcalm county, where the resided a few years when they moved to North Plains township, Ionia county, where they also resided a few years. In 1871, they came to Belding where he resided until his death. He believed and advocated giving every man a square deal, lived and practiced what he preached and was respected and esteemed by all who know him. Funeral services were held at his house, Saturday, Feb. 22, conducted by Rev. Edrie Collins and largely attended. Interment in the family burial lot in the Belding cemetery.
