The deceased has been in poor health for some time. Mr. Madden has exchanged his farm near the city for another and also some city property and was moving to town. Mrs. Madden had come down to stay with her son until they got settled. It is supposed the excitement of the change aggravated her trouble and was the cause of her sudden taking away. She was 66 years old and has been a resident here and in Northplains from which town they came to this township forty years or more. She was born in Whitby, Canada and was the wife of Samuel Madden to whom she was married forty-two years ago. They settled first in Fairplains, Montcalm Co., three years later came to Northplains, and in 1871 moved to Otisco. She leaves a husband, two sons and a daughter. The funeral will be held Saturday at 10 o’clock at the Congregational church. At her own request a post-mortem was held to ascertain her trouble, and Dr. Stanton assisted by Dr. Morris and Dr. Thomas Mann, the latter on a visit here from Ann Arbor, made the examination and the cause found to be a cancerous condition in the pelvic organs.
