He was born December 15, 1877 at Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Maddox. He was married to Elizabeth Roberts of Mason, November 1, 1910. He had been a machinist all his life and worked for the Illinois Central railroad 24 years. For several years he worked for the Kelsey-Hayes Co. in Detroit then came to the Ionia Tool and Die works from which he retired five years ago. He had lived in Lyons about seven years in the place known as the Bristow Hizer home which he purchased. He is survived by his wife Elizabeth, one son, George Maddox, Jr., of Muir, one daughter, Mrs. Clifford Lazarus of route one, Ionia; eight grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, two sisters, Mrs. Belle Tuttle, Washington, D.C.; and Mrs. Alice Carrier, Chicago, Ill. Funeral services will be held March 21, at 2 p.m. at the Lyons Baptist church with the Rev. Elmer Ubbink officiating. Arrangements are by Shaw-Rivett funeral home at Muir where the body will remain until 1 p.m. Tuesday. Burial will be at Highland Park cemetery in Ionia.
