Aug. 27, 2013 Patrick Henry Magee, 73, of Ludington, Mich., and Brooksville, Fla., passed away peacefully and entered into heaven to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, Aug. 20, 2013 surrounded by loving family following an extended illness. Pat is survived by his wife of 53 years, Phyllis (Taylor), two children, Melissa (Cornell) Boggs of Sanford (formerly Ludington), Mich., and Laura Lund of Rothbury, Mich., as well as six grandchildren (Charles, Jason, Patrick, Samuel, Eric and Bryan), and Cindy Yeck Emmert, who holds her own special place in the heart of the family. He is also survived by brothers, John (Les) and Jim )Linda) Magee and sisters Jane (Lionel) Haskins, Susan (Terry) Baie, Helen Sutton, Dessie Hall, sisters-in-law Julie Hull, Patsy Magee, Kay (Dale) Wiers and brother-in-law Gilbert (Cynthia) Taylor and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Madeline Magee, and siblings Edward, Michael and infant daughter, Mary Catherine. He was born in Flint, Mich., on Nov. 13, 1939 to Edward and Madeline (Morris) Magee, Sr. He grew up in Saranac, Mich., on the family farm. Pat graduated from Saranac High School where he dated and then married the love of his life Phyllis (Taylor) Magee on Oct. 24, 1959. After high school, Pat and Phyllis moved out to the east coast where Pat served in the United States Navy. Pat then began a career at General Motors before venturing out on his own with the purchase of Club Lakeside Bar & Restaurant in Ludington, MI. Pat & Phyllis loved working with people and created the memorable "Magee Burger" enjoyed by many. After several more business ventures Pat finished his career with the Department of Corrections, retiring in June of 1996. Pat lived the first half of his life loud, and always with a smile on his face, and a hand extended outward. He lived for his family, he loved the game of golf and indulged in any sweet he could find, especially Pasty's pastries. One day in the quiet of the morning he met Jesus, accepted him into his life and realized the precious gift of salvation. His life continued with that same big smile, that generous out-stretched hand and of course his love for golf and goodies, but now his spirit burned with a passion to share this gift of Jesus with all those he loved so dearly. Pat will be missed, but we believe in the words of his late nephew Steve, "It's not goodbye, it's I'll see you later." The family will hold a celebration of Pat's life on Saturday, Aug. 31, 2013 at 2 p.m. at Cornerstone Baptist Church, with the Pastors Craig Nelson and Jeff and Dina Hackert officiating. Please dress casually. Contributions in Pat's honor may be made to The Wounded Warriors Project 4899 Belfort Road, Suite 300, Jacksonville, FL 32256, www.woundedwarriorproject.org or the charity of your choice.
