October 2, 2021 William "Bill" Hawke Magney TORONTO- October 7, 1940-September 26, 2021. Bill, 80, died peacefully on September 26, 2021 in Toronto, Canada after a brief battle with cancer. Survived by brothers John (Andrea) and Jim, ex-wife Judy, sons Aaron (Judith) and Kurt (Kim), granddaughters Tegan and Kaiya, and many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, and grand-nephews. Predeceased by parents Carol and John Magney. Born in Ionia, Michigan, he attended Ionia High School, U of Michigan for B.A. (History), U of California, Berkley for M.A. (History), and U of Toronto to work on Ph.D. (History;incomplete). Bill led a complicate life with many high and lows. he was a social justice idealist, father, teacher, deep thinker, historian, postal worker, democratic and human rights activist, library and community volunteer, and lover of dogs, politics, music, puns, books, and action/adventure spy/detective movies and stories. He believed in acceptance of people of all culture and backgrounds, and was involved with organizations that promoted those ideals. We thank the Humber River Hospital staff for their caring support through his final days.
