Mahar, 75, of 707 East State, Belding, died Monday at United Memorial hospital at Greenville. Born March 3, 1897, at Carson City, he was the son of John and Ida Mahar. He was married April 23, 1917 to Mathilda L. Adrian and she died in 1962. He was cemetery superintendent for the City of Belding and member of Holy Cross Lutheran church. Surviving are three sons, Ronald E., John Jr., and Charles A. of Belding; ten grandchildren and eight great grandchildren; sister, Mrs. Cecil Burch of Rockford and brother, Frank Mahar of Grand Rapids. Funeral services will be Thursday at 1:30 p.m. at Holy Cross Lutheran church in Belding. Rev. Ronald Ritter will officiate and interment will be at River Ridge cemetery. Visitation hours at Huffman funeral home in Belding are Tuesday and Wednesday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. A memorial has been established for the Holy Cross Lutheran church.
