Mahar, 86, of Belding, passed away Tuesday morning, January 9, 2007 in Greenville. Blanche was born on July 11, 1920 in Saranac, the daughter of Royal and Vada Connor Hawley. She was a member of the American Legion Post #203 Ladies Auxiliary and Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Belding. For a number of years Blanche and her husband enjoyed spending their winters in Las Vegas, Nevada. Blanche was a special mom and grandma who loved her family. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. She was married on February 16, 1941 in Belding to Ronald E. Mahar and he preceded her on February 8, 1995. She was also preceded by her parents, her brother Robert Hawley, her sister Grace Taylor, two children in infancy, Robert Mahar and Bonnie Mahar and one grandson, Luke McNich. Blanche is survived by her children; Brenda and Alan Tran of Plainwell and Becky and James Mahar-VanSprange of Belding. Blanche is also survived by nine grandchildren, Ronald and Jan Tran, Brent and Jamie Tran, Dana and Jamie Tran, Torre Tran, Carmen McNich, Charles and Deanna McNich, Jonathon and Jenny McNich, Jinnifer Stephen and twenty-three great grandchildren. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Belding with Pastor Joseph Fremer officiating. Private interment will be in River Ridge Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Johnson-Feuerstein Funeral Home, Belding. Memorial contributions may be given to the Belding High School/Mahar Scholarship Program for Academic and Athletic Achievement. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
