Maines, the well-known and popular conductor on P.M. road, dropped dead on the train this morning near Vestaburg. He was conductor on the passenger between Bay City and Grand Rapids, and left Bay City at 7 a.m., apparently in usual health. He was unmarried, 45 years old, and had been in railroad employ 25 years. The family came to Ionia in 1876, and moved from here to Grand Rapids about 10 or 12 years ago, where he lived with his mother. A brother, George A. and two sisters, Mary and Margaret, were also members of the family. One sister, Anna, is wife of Fred A. Reynolds, deputy postmaster at Ionia.
