Michael Dean Makley, 29, of Saranac went to be with his Lord and Savior Jan. 
27, 2011 in Byron Center. He was born Jan. 19, 1982 in Hastings, the son of Dan 
Makely and Kristine Ward.

Michael is survived by his daughter, Skylar Makley of Saranac; father Dan 
(Rochelle) Makley of Ionia; mother, Kris Ward of Fenwick; sister, Heidi 
(Glen) “Leonard” Moon of Fenwick; step brothers, Bill Brownell of Tennessee, 
Ryan (Nikki) Brownell of Portland, Chris Brownell of Ionia and Randy Brownell 
of Grand Rapids; grandparents, Richard Stemler of Ionia and Vernon and Vivian 
Makley of Woodland; step grandparents, Bob and Margaret Bennett of Ionia; 
special nephew, Gage “Wally” Moon of Fenwick; step nieces and nephews, Rylee, 
Kendall and Tanner Brownell of Portland and Carter Brownell of Tennessee; and 
special friend Sue Lincoln of Fenwick.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, James Ward and Claudia Stemler; 
and great grandparents, Elijah and Clara Ward and Dorothy Campbell.

Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 1, 2011 at Shiloh 
Community Church with Pastor Tom Rundell officiating. The family will receive 
friends and relatives 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the church.

Arrangements by Lake Funeral Home of Saranac. Anyone wishing may make memorial 
contributions for Michael’s daughter Skylar.
