Hasting's Reminder-Saturday, January 31,2026

BETTE LOUAN MAKLEY, age 91, passed away January 28, 2026 at Butterworth 
Hospital.

She was born December 20, 1934. The daughter of Hollis and Ethelyn Chase of Lake 
Odessa.

Bette married Lloyd E. Makley May 9, 1952. He sadly preceded her in death July 
16, 2000. She was also preceded in death by her parents; brother, Wayne A Chase; 
two sisters, Maxine Chase & Evelyn Chase McCartney; two children, Cheryl K. 
Geiger & Scott E. Makley.

She is survived by children Pamela Lawson of Sunfield  & Wayne A. Makley and 
wife, Nancy of Clarksville; nephew, Mark McCartney & Beloved nephew, Mike 
McCartney; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Bette had jobs in sales of Tupperware, Mary Kay cosmetics, Beeline Fashions and 
was also a food sample lady and an EMT. She enjoyed plays, music, dancing, 
travel, her church and her cats. She loved living on the lake and collecting 
lighthouses.

A Celebration of Life will be held May 17, 2026 from 2 to 4 p.m.at the Odessa 
Township Community Center, 3862 Laurel Dr.,(M-50), Lake Odessa.
