The Ionia Sentinel-Standard, November, 1983

Electa I. Malakofsky, 87, of South State Road, Ionia, died late Wednesday in 
Butterworth Hospital, Grand Rapids.  Born in Sparting, Penna., August 8, 1896, 
she was the daughter of Afton and Mary Mitchum Smith.  She was married to Karl 
Malokofsky and they made their home in Ionia during the married life.  He 
preceded her in death in 1962.  Three sons, Clinton, Emory and Kenneth, and 
one daughter, Beatrice Ward, also preceded her in death.

She was a member of the Ionia First Baptist Church, the Minnie Howard Club, 
the CCW Class of her church, and the South Ionia Friendship Club.

Surviving are two daughters, Josephine VerPorter of Ionia and Mrs. George 
(Margaret) Dean of Ionia, and a daughter-in-law, Mrs. June Malakofsky; 10 
grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren; one brother, Charles Smith of Lansing, 
and one sister, Gretta Raymer of Ionia.

Funeral services will be Monday at 1 p.m. from the Ionia First Baptist 
Church.  Interment will be in Highland Park Cemetery.  A memorial for the 
Ionia First Baptist Church has been established, in care of the funeral home.  
The family will be at the funeral home Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Sunday 
from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
