Malone, 78, of Colby Road, Greenville, passed away late Friday evening, September 24, 2004, at Spectrum Health United Memorial United Campus, Greenville, with her family at her side. The daughter of Fay and Marion Britzman Corneil, she was born January 8, 1926, in Greenville. She was a 1944 graduate of Greenville Senior High School, where she participated in sports and the cheerleading squad. Eleanor was voted one of the most beautiful girls in her class. On September 29, 1951 she was married to Ralph E. Malone at First Congregational Church in Greenville by the Rev. Sinclair Parsons. Her sweet disposition earned her the nickname “Sunshine.” She was a member of First Congregational Church in Greenville, the Ladies Auxiliaries of Ray I. Booth American Legion Post 101 in Greenville and Lester J. Sitts Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5064 in Sheridan, Lodge 65 of the Danish Sisterhood Society and Doric Chapter of the order of the Eastern Star in Greenville. Mrs. Malone apprenticed under her mother-in-law, Catherine Malone, as a hairdresser. As a small businesswoman, she owned and operated Eleanor’s Beauty Shop at her Turk Lake home. She often extended her kindness in many helpful ways to elderly and ailing clients. Eleanor enjoyed the outdoors, especially mushrooming, as well as hunting and fishing. Over the years, Eleanor claimed several large bucks herself. In her youth, she was an excellent figure skater. Her family and friends will remember her always for the times she gathered them together to enjoy her wonderful cooking and share her joy in life. She will be greatly missed by all those who loved her. She is survived by her loving husband of 53 years, Ralph Malone; daughter, Sue Ann Kern; sister, Mary Lou Nielsen; many nephews and nieces; several great- nephews and great-nieces; and great-great-nephews and great-great-nieces. Funeral services were 11 a.m. today t Brown-Teman & Christiansen Funeral Home, Greenville, with the Rev. Jerry Jones, pastor of First congregational Church of Greenville, officiating. Burial will follow in Rest haven Memory Gardens, Belding.
