Mooney Malone, aged 87, of the Parnell area, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday afternoon, April 13, 2002, at her home. She was born in Ionia County on Feb. 23, 1915, the daughter of Joseph and Marie (nee Freeland) Heether. Mrs. Malone was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church Parnell and the First Friday Club at the church. Her involvement in the Parnell area ran far and wide. Whether it was preparing food for her family, friends, or school-age children at St. Patrick’s School, or cooking at one of the local restaurants, you could taste the special touch of TLC. She enjoyed playing a good game of cards, usually euchre. At 87, she was very active, whether it was blue gill fishing in her boat or bowling in the many leagues of which she was a part. Many family and friends throughout the years have enjoyed her craft work - especially her gift to make quilts or crocheted pieces which were often raffled or auctioned at the festival at St. Patrick Church.
