Malone, 93, of Belding passed away Saturday morning, Feb. 28, 2015, at Faith Hospice in Byron Center. Donna was born at home in Otisco Township on Aug. 25, 1921, the daughter of Joseph and Mary (Kuhn) Zahm. She graduated from Belding High School with the Class of 1937. In high school, Donna’s talents and skill as a secretary were recognized. When the principal was without a secretary, Donna was the one he always asked for. She was a good typist, could do shorthand very well and had excellent organizational skills. After high school, Donna later worked as a secretary at Gibson’s, Extruded Metals and Vining Sales. She was a lifelong member of St. Mary Catholic Church, a member of the Ave Maria Guild and the Altar Society. Donna was a kind and loving person who always tried to help the poor and those in need. She was married on July 21, 1945, at St. Mary Catholic Church to Byrne Malone and he preceded Donna in death in 1996. She was also preceded by her parents, two brothers; Arthur, Jerry and three sisters; Carmon, Lorene and Madeline. Donna is loved and survived by her children: Jean Ann Malone of Grand Rapids, Maureen and Mike DeFrancesco of St. Joseph, Gerilyn and James Kustowski of Marysville, Daniel and Elaine Malone of Stevensville, John Malone of Royal Oak; her grandchildren: Elizabeth and Jeffery Klaus, Patricia and Carl Tasios, Jacqueline and Kevin Borowski, Robert Reed, Kevin Malone, Dana Malone; her great-grandchildren: Adam and Lauren Klaus, Lily and Autumn Tasios, Aaron Borowski; and her sister-in-law, Beverly Zahm. Visitation will be Wednesday, March 4, from 2-7 p.m. with a rosary prayed at 6:30 p.m. at Johnson-Feuerstein Funeral Home, Belding. Mass of Christian Burial will be 1 p.m. Thursday, March 5, at St. Mary Catholic Church with Father Mark Bauer presiding. Committal prayers will follow in St. Mary Cemetery. Memorials may be given to St. Vincent DePaul Society.
