He was born in Sparta April 10, 1921 son of John and Anna (Wall) Manley. On May 30, 1947 he married Verna M. Kelly. Mr. Manley was a veteran of the United States Navy, serving his country for four years. He was a long time resident of Portland, before moving to Sunfield. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping. He was preceded in death by his parents; 15 brothers & sisters; sons-in-law Donald Cobb and Joe Vergeson. Surviving are his wife of 56 years, Verna; children Terri (Bud) Glass of Grand Rapids, Nancy Vergeson of Ionia, Kathy Cobb of Portland and Steven Manley of Sunfield. Services were held Feb. 7, at the Rosier Funeral Home, Mapes-Fisher Chapel, Sunfield with the Ref. Wade Hatfield of Heartland Community Church, Ionia, officiating. Interment followed at West Sebewa cemetery. Contributions may be made to the VFW Post 44090 in Portland.
