Interment will be in Highland park tomorrow morning. The Ionia Daily Sentinel, Friday, November 2, 1917 Burial services for Ira Mann were held this morning at 10 o’clock, Rev. E. E. Branch officiating, at Highland Park. The bearers were Bert Lampkin, J. I. Williston, H. F. Voelker, Chas. Lauster, E. T. Merriett, and Mr. Allison of St. Johns. Mr. Mann left Ionia 22 years ago, and made his way from Chicago to Pittsburg, walking the distance. Since that time he has risen to a prominent place in Pittsburg business circles, and the man who was obliged to walk to Pittsburg was at his death a wealthy contractor, worth over $200,000. The following item is from a Pittsburg paper regarding his demise: Ira Mann, aged 46, 17 West Park way, Northside, a plumbing contractor, died in the Pittsburg Athletic Association clubhouse last night of heart trouble, which became exaggerated by dancing. He was dancing with his wife at the time he became ill. Dr. W. F. Edmundson, 3509 Fifth avenue, attended him, 15 minutes later he was dead. Mr. Mann was born in Ionia, Mich., where he lived 24 years. Then he removed to Pittsburg, where he had been since. He was a member of the Pittsburg Chamber of Commerce, president of the Master Plumber’s Association, and a member of the Second Church of Christ, Scientist. Besides his widow, Mrs. Marian H. Place Mann, his mother, Mrs. Melissa Mann, who was visiting in Michigan, survive. The Ionia Daily Sentinel, Saturday, November 3, 1917 Ira Mann, who died suddenly in Pittsburg and was buried Friday in Highland Park, Ionia, is well remembered as prominent in the military here in the old days. In 1888 he was a member of old Company G. along with Fred Young, Frank Miller, Web Mitchell, Fred Mason, Billy Pettingill, Dan Kelly, John Donovan, Henry Horrigan, Harry Jennings, Harry Hamilton, Charley Hoyt, Geo. Canfield, Gene Wilcox, John Garrity, Lee Bull and many other well known Ionians. At that time the officers were Capt. John H. Mitchell, First Lieut. Harry E. Spencer, Second Lieut. Frank D. Curtis, both Spencer and Curtis succeeding as captains of the company later on.
