Tom was born on Nov. 11, 1943 in Belding, the son of Melvin A and Vera Irish Mann. Tom enjoyed hunting; riding Cushman scooters, taking motorcycle trips, going for walks and watching his granddaughters play volleyball, basketball and softball. Tom enjoyed many years growing up in Smyrna and running Smyrna Grocery with his father Mel. He was a member of the Michigan National Guard from 1967 to 1972. He retired three years ago from Aggressive Tooling in Greenville, where he worked with many great friends. He graduated from Belding High School with the Class of 1962 where he played football, basketball and baseball. In 1964 he married his high school sweetheart and best friend, Joyce Ann Goodwin. Tom is loved and survived by his wife, Joyce; his mother, Vera Mann of Kissimmee, Fla.; two daughters, Lynda Mann and friend Mike Derosha, Marc and Mikayla Linebaugh; three granddaughters, Kyleigh, Hannah and Brooke Linebaugh, all of Belding; his sister, Sue and Ed Petipren of Scottville; three nephews, Tim, Tom and Todd Petipren; many cousins and close friends. He was preceded by his father, Mel Mann, in 1990. The family would like to thank all the doctors, nurses and staff at St. Mary’s Lacks Cancer Center and Spectrum Hospice for their wonderful care to Tom. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Johnson-Feuerstein Funeral Home, Belding with Pastor Darwyn Hassert officiating. Committal prayers will follow in Rest Haven Memory Gardens, Belding. Visitation will be Friday from 1 to 3 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Tom would have appreciated memorial contributions to be given for a plaque in his memory that will be placed at the new high school softball field or to the Belding Softball and or Belding Volleyball programs club account, envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
