Ionia Standard, 19 Mar 1886

Marion, son of Loomis Mann, died on Friday last of quick consumption.  The 
deceased was one of the most popular young men in the city and his death, 
though not unexpected, was a very sad event to his parents, his young wife, and 
his many friends.  His health had always been good until less than a year 
since.  Last fall he began to fail rapidly and went to Colorado hoping to 
recover it but received no benefit.  He returned home a few weeks since to die 
among friends.  He was a member of the city fire department and the boys turned 
out in uniform with hose cart No. 1 appropriately draped, and headed by 
Schmucker’s band, to escort the body to its last resting place.

Mr. and Mrs. Calvin T. Mann, of Fentonville, came to attend the funeral of 
Marion A. Mann.  “Cal” looks as young and hearty as he did ten years ago.  He 
reports a pleasant location and good business at Fentonville.
