She came to Michigan with her parents in early childhood and lived at St. Joseph, Greenville, and Remus until her marriage to John Manning on December 24th, 1868. Since that time she has lived in this community where she had become well known. For the past ten years she has been in failing health and has not been able to minister in the sick rooms as she used to do, and has appreciated the many kindnesses shown her, especially during the past year when she has been an invalid. Her son, John James Manning with whom she lived, died a year ago, and since that time she had been cared for by the daughter-in-law, Mrs. Letta Manning. She was a member of the Woman’s Relief Corps while that organization was functioning and last fall, she was baptized and joined the Methodist Episcopal Church. She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Ann Maria Vond, of Kent City, one brother, Leander Guy, of Fenwick, three half-sisters, Misses Katherine and Susan Guy, of Remus, and Mrs. Mary Jamison, of the State of Washington, George Guy, of Remus, John Guy, of Petoskey, and Harry Guy of Detroit, six grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. The funeral was held at the home on Friday afternoon, and burial was in the Hubbardston Westside Cemetery, with the Rev. John W. Broxholm officiating.
