CHARLES H. MANNING
Charles H. Manning, 93, formerly of Portland, died Friday, August 6, at the home of
a step-daughter, Mrs.Max Meier, of Grand Ledge. Mr. Maning was the son of Henry and Sarah 
Lumbert Manning and was born July 13, 1860, in New York state. He had spent most of
his life in Portland until 18 years ago when he moved to Grand Ledge. His wife has been
dead a number of years.

Surviving are one son, George, of Attalia, Wash., one daughter, Mrs. Carrie
Galligher, of Detroit, and the step-daughter, Mrs. Meier.

The funeral service was held in Grand Ledge Monday, Rev. G.S. Giddings officiating.

For a number of years Mr. Manning was the eldest member to attend the Lumbert family
reunion which he attended last month and was in fairly good health at the time.
