Ionia Sentinel-Standard
Daniel C. Manning, 73, of 1200 Lookingglass Road, Portland, died Sunday in St. 
Lawrence Hospital.  Born May 6, 1915, in Clinton County, he was the son of 
Edward and Amelia Keusch Manning Sr.  He was owner and operating of Portland 
Concrete & Supply for 41 years, a member of St. Patrick’s church and Knights of 
Columbus and Portland Conservation Club.

He is survived by his wife Gertrude; three sons, William, Richard and Jack 
Manning, all of Portland; two daughters, Sharon Jean Wright of Atlanta, Ga., and 
Jayne  Huhn of Portland; 15 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; three 
brothers, Edward Manning of Portland, Clarence Manning of Westphalia; and Robert 
Manning of Chesaning; and a sister, Sister Mary Manning SSJ of Nazareth.  A 
sister, Gertrude Schramek, preceded him in death.
Rosary will be said Monday and Tuesday at 8 pm at Neller Funeral Home.  Funeral 
mass will be Wednesday at 10 am from St. Patrick’s Church; with the Rev. Richard 
VanLente officiating.  Burial will be in Portland Cemetery.
