The Ionia Sentinel, Friday, February 14, 1873


Mrs. Seneca Marcey, of Lyons, was killed on Wednesday afternoon.  In company 
with her husband she was on her way to pay a visit to her brother, Kelsey 
Chubb, near Pewamo.  In crossing Stony Creek bridge Mr. Marcey drove his 
horse, a young colt, close to the side of the bridge which was covered with 
ice.  The horse stumbled and fell over against the railing which giving away, 
the horse, cutter and both occupants were precipitated upon the ice below.  
Mrs. Marcey struck upon her head and was instantly killed, while Mr. M. 
escaped uninjured.
