He was born in County Douth, Ireland, June 17, 1839. He came to this country at the age of ten, remaining in Genesee county, New York, for twenty years. He then came to Michigan and purchased the farm in North Plains township where he resided until his death. He was honest and upright in dealing with his fellow men. He was a hard worker and was always busy until he was taken with the first stroke of paralysis last March which unabled him to continue his work. He was the last member of a large family consisting of eleven brothers and one sister. He is survived by a wife, two sons, Frank and Matthew of Hubbardston and Mrs. Geo. Cunningham of Gratiot county and nine grandchildren. The funeral was held at St. John’s Catholic church Saturday, September 7 of which he was a devoted member. Rev. Father McCabe officiated.
