Markham, 53, of 1853 Woods road died at his home Thursday evening of an apparent heart attack. He had been hunting. Born December 9, 1915 in Pompeii, he was married April 5, 1946 to Marian Eschtruth. They lived all their married life in the Ionia area. He was a veteran of World War II and an employee of A.O. Smith-Inland and its predecessors 19 years. The past four years he was an inspector. He was a former member of the Ionia Odd Fellows lodge and member of Ronald Grange. His father Clyde Markham preceded him in death April of 1969. Surviving are his wife, Marian; one son, Robert C., and a daughter, Betty Lou, both at home; mother, Mrs. Lillian Markham of Saranac; one sister, Mrs. Fred Pinkney of Grand Rapids. Funeral services will be Monday at 2 p.m. at Morris-Roetman funeral home in Saranac. Rev. John Hancock will officiate and interment will be at Woodard Lake cemetery. Bearers will be Dale Rosecrance, Harold Signs, Robert Schafer, William Swain, William Coates and Floyd Stone.
