Markham, 317 David highway, died Thursday at the age of 76 in the Belding community hospital after a short illness. Born July 6, 1892 in Shepherd, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Markham, he was a resident of Lyons eleven years where he operated a service station. He later moved to Ionia where he was a service station operator three years. He then moved to Morrison Lake road area to operate a service station ten years before moving to Saranac where he was employed by the First Security bank five years. Mr. Markham was a member of the Masonic lodge Eastern Star in Saranac, and a life member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows and Rebekah lodge in Ionia. Surviving besides his wife, Lillian are one son, Weyland of Ionia; one daughter, Mrs. Barbara Pinckney of Wyoming; one brother, Charles Markham of Florida; two sisters, Maude Ballard of Florida and Mrs. Bernice Bancroft of Alma; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. The body will be at Morris-Roetman funeral home in Saranac Saturday evening where friends may call between 7 and 9 p.m. services will be at the funeral home at 2 p.m. Monday, the Rev. John Hancock of Saranac Community church officiating. Masonic services will be under the auspices of Saranac lodge. Burial will be in Saranac cemetery.
