Ionia Sentinel Standard - March 8, 2011


Florena Lucy Marolis, 84, of Ionia passed away March 5, 2011 in Ionia. She was 
born May 6, 1926 in Flint, the daughter of Linton and Lillie (Lee) Dennis.

Florena married Harold Maroulis Oct. 3, 1952. He passed away Dec. 26, 1989. She 
was a member of First Christian Church in Ionia. Florena worked for Ionia 
Hospital Guild. She assisted Ionia Hospice at their beginning and loved to work 
in the family greenhouse.

Florena is survived by her children, Charles (Shirley) Maroulis of Shiloh, 
Carol Waters of Ionia, Anne Maroulis of Ionia, Diane (Chuck) Renn of Ionia, 
Linda Maroulis of Shiloh and Harold Maroulis Jr. of Shiloh; brother, Jerry 
(Rose) Dennis of Mecosta; sister, Hazel Howe of Mecosta; brother-in-law, Howard 
Colley of Mecosta; grandchildren, Nials (Bonnie) Maroulis of Stanton, Jessica 
Waters of Kentucky, Crystal (Sean) Sinclair on Ionia, Ruby  (Jeff) Bridinger  
of Shiloh, Amber Maroulis of Grand Rapids, Honesty (Joe) Gray–Fox of Grand 
Rapids, Grace Maroulis of Lansing and Nathaynal Maroulis of Shiloh; and great 
grandchildren, Skylar, Jourdan, Gage, Jacob, Brody, Portia, Eliza, Ellie May, 
Shane and Conner.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and sister Barbara Colley.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Lake Funeral Home in Ionia 
with Pastor Armand Aronson officiating. Interment Tuttle Cemetery in the 
spring. Visitation will be held 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at noon Wednesday until 
time of service at the funeral home.
