He had been in poor health for over a year. He was born April 9, 1859, in Cavan, Ontario, and was the son of James and Sarah Marshall, both born in Ireland. Mr. Marshall came to Ionia from Powles Corners, Ontario, and was associated with the S. B. Gorham Lumber company, now known as the Marshall-Wright Lumber company. He was a member of the First Methodist church of Ionia; the Blue Lodge, Royal Arch Masons and the Knights Templar. He is survived by his wife, Mattie; a daughter, Mrs. Carl Metzger of St. Clair; three grandchildren; four brothers, Herbert Marshall of Flint, Edward Marshall and George Marshall of Ionia; Albert Marshall of Mt. Pleasant; a sister, Mrs. Geo. Rutherford of Tension Falls, Ontario. A son, who served in World War I preceded him in death. Funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the Boynton funeral home, Rev. F.G. Dunbar, pastor of the First Methodist church will officiate and burial will be in the family lot in Highland Park cemetery. The body will repose at the Boynton funeral home until time for service.
