Portland Observer, 16 Mar 1939

Funeral services were held at the home Wednesday afternoon for Miss Rose 
Martin, 81, who died early Monday morning following a stroke.  Rev. Warren E. 
Brown officiated, with burial in Portland Cemetery.

Miss Martin was born on a farm in Christian Bend.  After moving to the village 
she was for 17 years associated with the firm of Martin Sisters, Milliners.

She is survived by two sisters, Misses Carrie and Hannah Martin; a niece, Mrs. 
Pearl Zemer of Lansing; and a nephew, Floyd Martin.
